From HyperCard to C# and Back

Fhiz Fhiz

Welcome to the digital lair of Fhiz, my virtual alter ego and the embodiment of a lifelong journey through the realms of technology, games, and creativity. The name "Fhiz" itself is an homage to Fizban, the whimsical wizard from the legendary Dragonlance series. Since my earliest days of delving into fantasy worlds, Fizban inspired me to explore the vast universes of role-playing games (RPGs) and embrace the boundless potential of my imagination.

A Lifelong RPG Enthusiast

My journey into the nerdy multiverse began with RPGs—an obsession that started as early as I can remember. From the dungeon-crawling depths of Wizardry and Might & Magic to the epic tales of Final Fantasy and countless Game Boy RPGs, these games shaped my love for storytelling and interactivity. Later, I became captivated by the social and dynamic aspects of MMORPGs, where players could come together to create shared experiences in persistent online worlds.

Accidental Programmer, Passionate Creator

My path to programming was anything but conventional. As a teenager, I stumbled into coding purely out of necessity when no one in my group of friends wanted to take on the role of the programmer. While I had tinkered with C64 BASIC and Assembler before, my real journey began with tools like QBasic, HyperCard, and later, C#. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a passion, and I found myself developing add-ons, mods, and plugins for Unity-based MMORPG projects.

The Return to Simplicity

As life progressed—with a career, responsibilities, and obligations—I discovered a newfound appreciation for hypercasual and idle games. Their simplicity, ease of deployment, and intuitive design felt like a natural evolution of my interests. Web technologies, in particular, reignited my fascination with efficient, accessible platforms. In many ways, this felt like a return to my roots in HyperCard—a system that, despite its age, shares surprising parallels with modern web development.

The Next Chapter

Today, after closing several chapters in my life, I find myself drawn back to the origins of my creative journey. I am currently working on a hypercasual, idle MMORPG built on web technologies—a game designed for people who love MMORPGs but don’t have the time to fully immerse themselves in one. It’s a project that combines my passions for storytelling, community-driven gaming, and the elegance of simple, web-based systems.
